AMVCA2015 Red Carpet Fashion Trend Predictions

0
HE stage is set once again for another battle as the third edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards,(AMVCA) holds tomorrow evening at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.  This year’s AMVCAs has been highly competitive not just in the number of entries for the awards but also, in the quality of entries.
t’s almost show time! The African Magic Viewers Choice Awards is on Saturday 7th March 2015 and the event is set to honor the best films and characters for the year.
We’ve tried make a few early calls of what we expect to see some stars wearing on one of the biggest nights and while the anticipation is high on who will win what, the fashionable fans have their eyes fixed on the red carpet.
Trends aren’t really the point – opportunities are and this is another opportunity for some stars to make a mark and we will be on the look out for these fashionable moments.
Here are five trends that I predict might be a big win!
At the moment, the air is thick with expectations, as keen followers of the glamorous event that rewards deserving African filmmakers and  stars, are apprehensive on who emerges winners at this year’s edition.
Meanwhile, pundits are tipping Kehinde Bankole for Best Actress in a Drama category following her gripping role in Kunle Afolayan’s “October 1” movie.
She has likes of Rita Dominic(Yore), Ivie Okunjaye(Make A Move), Amaka Mgbor(A Place in the Stars), Ghanaian actress cum TV host, Joselyn Dumas(Love or Something Like That) and Aisha Kamara(reflections) to beat in order to clinch the prize. But there are indications that reverse might be the case.
The same goes for Best Actress in a Comedy category, where the battle will be between  veteran actress Joke Silva for “Folly”, Weruche Opia for “When Love Happens”, Rita Dominic who won Best Actress award at last year’s Africa Movie Academy Award, AMAA following her role in her movie “ The Meeting” and Nse Ikpe Etim(I Come Lagos) versus Ghanaian actress, Lydia Forson whose role in  “A Letter from Adam” earned her nomination for the award.
On the Best Actor in a Drama category, pundits are predicting that the battle will likely be between Gideon Okeke(A Place in the Stars), IK Ogbonna(Honeymoon Hotel),  OC Ukeje (Secret Room) and Mike Ezuruonye (Unforgivable), aside other contenders.  OC Ukeje, however,  has two nominations here,(Confusion na Wa), but  observers are uncertain whether he will emerge victorious at the end of the day.

Other nominees are Kunle Idowu(The Interview),Femi Jacobs (The Meeting), Wale Ojo(Meet the Adebanjos), Kelechi Udegbe(Horn Free Day), Gerald Langiri(Fundi-Mentals) and Nonso Diobi(The last 3 Digits) who will be up against each other for the award of Best Actor in a Comedy.
There are also Best Supporting Actor and Actress in a Drama and Comedy, as well as Best Movie in a Drama and Comedy which pundits are uncertain of the possible winners following the quality of the entries.
As noted by the Regional Director, M-Net (West), Mrs Wangi Mba Uzoukwu, at AMVCA nominee brunch, which held last week, “This year’s edition of the AMVCAs promises to be bigger than the previous editions. We have seen a phenomenal improvement not just in the number of entries for the awards but also in the quality of entries.
We are indeed excited and can hardly wait for the 7th of March when all of Africa and indeed the rest of the world will find out who the winners are.” Since the maiden edition in 2013, the AMVCAs has celebrated the contributions of African filmmakers, actors and technicians to the success of the television industry.
