Turgor pressure is the force within the cell that pushes the plasma membrane against the cell wall.

As plant cells gain water by osmosis, their sap vacuoles enlarge and exert outward pressure on the cell wall. This pressure increases as more water is taken into the vacuoles which push the cytoplasm against the cell wall
