IGCSE Subjects

In Lower Secondary level students in Year 9 (13 to 14 years old) follow Key Stage 3 of the National Curriculum. Compulsory subjects include:

  1. English (Language and Literature)
  2. Mathematics
  3. Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
  4. Computing
  5. History
  6. Geography
  7. Modern Foreign Languages
  8. Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE)
  9. Games

In addition we offer the following electives:

  1. Art
  2. Music
  3. Drama
  4. Design and Technology
  5. Food Studies
  6. Academic Physical Education

Year 9 is viewed as the first year of IGCSE preparation and students begin selecting option subjects in preparation for Year 10 and 11 courses.

At Middle Secondary level Years 10 and 11 (14 to 16 years old), students study the following compulsory subjects:

  1. English (Language and Literature)
  2. Mathematics
  3. Science (at least one out of Biology, Chemistry or Physics)
  4. Physical Education and Games (non-examinable)
  5. Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) (non-examinable)
  6. It is recommended to study a language from a choice of French, Spanish, Latin, Kiswahili

In addition, these students can also study the following optional subjects:

  1. Academic Physical Education
  2. Art and Design
  3. Business
  4. Drama
  5. Design Technology
  6. Computer Science
  7. Food and Nutrition (O level)
  8. Geography
  9. Global Perspective
  10. Information and Communication Technology – ICT
  11. History
  12. Music

Learners choose up to 10 subjects to study for their IGCSEs. Some students may opt to sit for exams in subjects not taught in the normal school timetable such as languages like Dutch or Hindi where parents make private arrangements to recruit tutors. This will raise the examinable subjects to more than 10.

Is there any course for IGCSE students a level where I can get because we are supposed to sit for exams in may but suddenly they have cancel our exams because of Corona virus my common is are we supposed sit next year for exams
