Asbel Kiprop earned Kenya the much needed 7th gold to finish ahead of Jamaica. The tall legged clocked 3 minutes 34.40 seconds, running the final lap in 51 seconds as his rivals battled and stumbled behind him to the line.
Kenya bagged a total of 16 medals (7 gold, 6 silver,3 bronze) while their closest rivals, Jamaica, finished second with 12 medals ( 7 gold,2 silver,3 bronze). The top 20 list was closed by Crotia with two medals only 2 bronze.
