The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has been dragged into yet another tussle over the AON medical insurance scheme.
The Kenya National Union of Teachers and the Kenya Union of Special Needs Education Teachers (Kusnet) on Wednesday filed separate urgent applications and obtained orders stopping the TSC from making deductions for the scheme.
4. Key witness in Karen land case dies
One of the key witnesses in the Sh8 billion Karen land case has died.
Former Deputy Chief Lands Registrar Geoffrey Birundi passed away last week.
Mr Birundi was the government official who did all the paperwork related to the Karen land.
He was among the senior officials mentioned in the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission report presented to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

7.Government Denies Any Sugar Deal With Uganda
The Uganda sugar deal that as raised political temperature in the country over the lat two weeks may be nonexistent after all, according to Adan Mohammed, acting agriculture cabinet secretary.
In what may add controversy to the debate, Mohamed said that the official government position is that no sugar deal was signed between Uganda and Kenya.
The government wishes to clearly state that no trade agreement or any other deal was signed between Kenya and Uganda,” Adan is quoted by the Star Newspaper.
William Ruto, deputy president and other Jubilee big wigs have been on record defending Uhuru Kenyatta for signing the sugar deal with Uganda.

Wanjau was arrested at ABC Place Westlands after being set up by Kenyans who had been part of the fundraising of Baby Fidelis surgery.Wanjau was booked at Muthangari Police Station before the DCIO Dagoretti picked him up and booked him at Kabete Police Station. It later emerged that there is an arrest warrant against him enforced at Makuyu Police Station. The DCIO Makuyu ordered for Wanajau’s transfer to Makuyu.

Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza was sworn in for a controversial third term in power Thursday, the presidency said, following elections last month, weeks of protests and a failed coup.
Mr Nkurunziza took the “oath for a new term of five years”, the presidency said in a statement, in a surprise ceremony on Thursday, announced only a few hours in advance.
