Today Jamhuri day in Laikipia County ended in a somber mood after the County Assembly member Ephraim Wachira died after delivering his speech during Jamhuri Day celebrations at the Nanyuki Stadium in Laikipia
The county’s Majority Leader collapsed moments after addressing the rally, throwing the celebrations into panic.
He was rushed to the Nanyuki Cottage Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The County Asembly Speaker Patrick Mariru speaking to Nation, he said.
“It’s true one of our members has left us. I am on my way from Nyahururu because we are meeting at Bunge to make a formal announcement,”
Hon.Ephraim Mwangi Wachira Biography
Hon. Ephraim Mwangi is was elected member of the County Assembly representing Ngobit ward. Hon Mwangi joined politics as a councilor in Nyeri, Tetu division. In 2013 he vied for Member of County Assembly on a TNA ticket and won with over 50% votes.
Until his demise, he was the Majority leader of County Assembly of Laikipia, the chairman committee on selection, the vice-chair of committee on appointments a member of the Labor, social welfare and community services committee, and County assembly business committee.
