How To Change From Postpaid To Prepaid Safaricom

How to join Safaricom PostPay

  1. Individual Safaricom PostPay subscribers will dial *544# or *100#.
  2. Select “Join PostPay”.
  3. Select subscribers will be informed of their monthly limits and they can opt to join PostPay with limits allocated or enter their preferred limits.
  4. Individual subscribers who input monthly limits greater than what they have been allocated will be required to top up the difference as deposit.
  5. Individual subscribers with no limits allocated will be required to input their preferred limits. The deposit payable will be equivalent to the limit that customer has input).
  6. You will then proceed to enter your e-mail address, accept to post-pay terms and conditions and join PostPay.
  7. Safaricom will migrate you to PostPay. You can access customer care through *200#.
  8. Your monthly bill will be sent through SMS and email.
  9. Payment will be required by the 5th day of every month.
  10. We will send you notifications on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th of the month.
  11. Once you pay, you will receive a notification confirming successful payment.
  12. On 7th day after due date, subscribers who have not paid their bills to receive a notice to disconnect.
  13. If you pay through M-Pesa after disconnection, you will be reconnected within 20 minutes.

How to pay for the PostPay service

  1. You can make payment through any of the following channels: M-Pesa through Safaricom PostPay PayBill 200200,Bonga points via PayBill 200200.
  2. Subscribers who remain in default 90 days after the due date will automatically be terminated on the Service and transferred back to PrePay.
  3. Safaricom will forward your details to CRB if you remain in default 106 days after due date.
  4. CRB listing will be done 120 days after the due date.

Can I buy the bundle more than once in a month?

No. You can only buy once. You can not have multiple subscriptions

What happens when I exhaust my bundle in the middle of the month?

  • You will be charged an out of bundle rate of Kshs. 2.30 for calls and Kshs. 1.30 for data. This is only applicable once the bundles run out, you can also purchase other bundles with expiry or non expiry on *544#.
  • If you have already hit your credit limit, you will have to make a payment via MPESA to you account and then proceed to buy a different bundle of your choice. You can also use out of bundle at your preferred PostPay rate

Will the bundle auto renew?

Yes, the bundle will auto renew every 1st of the month.

Can I use the bundle for international calls?

Yes, you can use it for international calling to USA, Canada, China and India.

Can I use it for Roaming?

No, the PostPay bundles cannot be used for roaming.

Will I earn Bonga points if i purchase PostPay Bundles?

Yes , you will earn Bonga points when you purchase the plans.

Can I 'Sambaza' or transfer resources (bundles and minutes)?

No, you cannot transfer/Sambaza your resources.

What is the priority in usage?

Priority will be for resources (bundles and minutes) that expire.

What happens if I have activated Data Manager and I join PostPay?

Data Manager service will still remain active after joining PostPay

I recently moved my line to PostPay, when should I expect to get my bill?

The bill will be sent to the email address you provided on sign up on the 3rd of every month. Please ensure you settle your bill by the 16th of the month to avoid being disconnected from the PostP tariff.

What happens if I join and buy a PostPay Bundle after the 1st of the month?

If you sign up after the 1st of the month the amount and resources will be prorated and will not expire. On the 1st of the next month you will receive full (bundles and minutes).

Yes, you will receive a notification when your data is about to run out,the messages will be sent when you have 500MB, 75MB and 2MB.
