CELEBRATED gospel singer Esther Wahome is laughing all the way to the bank, after inking a lucrative commercial endorsement with giant telecommunication firm Airtel Kenya.
Though she was coy to reveal the exact amount she was paid to endorse a new consumer promotion by Airtel dubbed Smartika Na 5X, the Kuna Dawa hitmaker told Word Is on phone that it was a ‘huge and nice thing’.
“I am glad that even after all these years of gospel music ministry, big corporates are still finding me relevant and influential. It’s by God’s favour that they still have faith in me to successfully sell their brands and I don’t take it for granted,” she said.
So, how much did Airtel pay you to do this? A million shillings?
“(Laughs) I cannot really tell you that bit but it was a big deal. I could not be speaking to you with so much happiness if it wasn’t a huge and nice thing.”
In the TV campaign, Wahome features alongside popular comedian and actor Davis Mwambili aka Inspekta Mwala. The 50-day long promotion aims at rewarding lucky subscribers with 50 cars.
Wahome has previously penned great endorsement deals among them with multinational consumer goods company Unilever for its Lifebuoy soap brand and EABL for its lightly carbonated non-alcoholic malt beverage brand, Malta Guinness. -The Star
